Overview

The goal of the Cluster of Excellence „Energy-Efficient Product and Process Innovations in Production Engineering (eniPROD)“ is to make a nationally and internationally visible contribution to the realisation of the vision for almost completely emissions-free production, with simultaneous reduction in the energy requirement and an increase in resource efficiency, through pooling the existing fields of research excellence in the scientific location of Chemnitz. To this end, the complementary fields of excellence that exist at the Technische Universität Chemnitz and the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU in Chemnitz, focussing on the research field of energy-efficient production, are being further developed and merged to form holistic system expertise. With the eniPROD cluster of excellence, the prioritisation and long-term strategic orientation of the Technische Universität Chemnitz's research profile is being focussed on the future-oriented topic of energy-efficient production, which forms the basis for the development and sustainable implementation of a leading international high-performance research network for Resource-Efficient Production in Chemnitz, together with the Fraunhofer IWU.
